I have been trying to get a decent shot of one of these guys for ages. They seem to be always on the move. I caught this one justbefore i was about to leave.
The Willow Tit is well camouflaged against the decaying birch trunk. When I realized the bird was digging out a hole in the trunk, I backed off and left it to it's housing efforts. Wonder if evulotion has made the bird colours go so well with it's choice of nesting environment...? Had the...
I always thought that the black-and-white head of the Willow looks almost exactly like the eastern symbol for eternal change "Tao". And in the forest this bird is in the center of the universe, as the bravest feathered creature around. Looks like he have had a bath. The short DOF of...
I got the impression it looked down on me, as if I belonged to an inferior species. And when it comes to the ability to survive in the forest by your own devices, it is certainly true...

Very unusual for this bird to sit still long enough for a couple of shots - enjoying the sunshine perhaps. Newly fallen snow made the landscape bright and joyful.
Never seen a softer bird than the winter willow. They fall down from tree branches to the ground slowly like large snowflakes. But when the sparrow hawk strikes with lightning speed, they are quick enough to escape into nearest spruce. This is for Marian - the great encourager
