    Columba Palumbus

Still one of my favourite birds.
  2. wood pigeon

Thought this guy was a cut above the usual specimens we get, looks very slick and healthy, must be all that food of mine he's eaten.
  3. Wet Woody

    Wet Woody

Poor thing got caught in an absolute downpour.
  4. Woody

    Woody

These could be the last two shots with my trusty old camera. (But I'm keeping it for a bit.)
  5. Wood Pigeon

    Wood Pigeon

Well, the only way I've stopped myself uploading another Jay, was to upload this Woody from months ago.|=)| Through the window as usual.
  6. Close-up

    Close-up

One of my favourites. It's been a bad summer for bird pictures and I have no more in the queue after this! Not sure when or where the next one will come from.
  7. Fluffy Pigeon

    Fluffy Pigeon

Caught in action doing a bit of preening.

    Where's my towel?

This bird had been sitting out in the open during a heavy rain shower and looked as though it needed drying off.

    Wood Pigeon

Well I had a choice of uploading one of the following from yesterday: Little Egret - Reed Warbler - Wren - Greenfinch - Cormorant - Kestrel - Grey Heron - Shelduck chicks - Cygnet. So I picked this Wood Pigeon instead.|=)| They don't get uploaded to the gallery often, and I caught this one in a...

    Sleepy time Joe

Just a snap taken in the Garden - looks like he is taking a nap but is just preening.

    Wood Pigeon

And here's an adult in all its glory, with its head out of the water!
  16. Bath Time

    Bath Time

I think Wood Pigeons quite like water. I managed to catch this one with its head under water!
  17. Juvenile

    Juvenile

Three Wood Pigeon shots today. First, a young one from my back garden. I take full responsibilty for the turquoise flower pot!
  18. A bit of a Flap

    A bit of a Flap

I don't know why it flapped its wings while walking around. Pure luck to catch a slightly unusual view.
  19. Young Woody

    Young Woody

I've seen an occasional juvenile at Slimbridge but this is the first time I have noticed one at home. It's been around for some days, usually with parents. Note the lack of white neck.
  20. Wood Pigeon

    Wood Pigeon

Wood Pigeons are very active in the garden at the moment, with elaborate courtship displays. This consists of bowing in the lead up to mating although in one case I was rather confused when it ended in a nasty fight!

    wood pigeon

I was photographing a peregrine in Rochdale when this bird was fighting with another behind me. Unfortunaytely I missed the action....too slow to pull the lens around. The light was great so I took a couple of shots of this handsome bird.
  24. Woody in the spotlight

    Woody in the spotlight

This is one of a few pictures I just took of a Wood Pigeon. Usually I would have adjusted the exposure, or changed my position, but this time I didn't. Yes, I was brave, I experimented.|=)| Anyway, I think it works, and is a bit different. Through the window as usual.
