I like Wood Pigeons. They are always meek and mild (not to say, sometimes, asleep) at Slimbridge.

Slimbridge is a great place for these colourful birds.

This Rook limped about but seemed to be doing OK. Like the other Slimbridge Rooks (and Wood Pigeon in the background) he was scavenging on duck food! I think it's the same bird seen in a wet and bedraggled state in the Gallery a few days ago.

Just about tucked in for a sleep but still showing its pretty plumage.

... for me to pass so thay can start attacking the Moorhen again. It looked as if they had already chased of its mate who was waiting a little way off.

ivy berries at this time of year seems to pull these wary birds closer to residential areas, not much else to eat in the hedgerows I suppose.

Definitely the boss of my garden, even walked into the kitchen twice on the same day last year!! We now keep the door closed;)

I took a visit to my local park to see if goosander were there and try out my 300 with 1.4 and 2X converter on them. There was not much on the lake and my local heron was not playing ball either. However, this woody was game. Often they are very flighty so it was back to the Dancy crawl which...

It's the same bird as the first shot. I had to take a lot of shots as most of the time its eyes were closed!

These three shots were just by the bird feeders where the Water Rail occasionally hangs out.

I've said it before (and I'll probably say it again). Slimbridge is worth a visit just for the Jackdaws and Woodpigeon.

Yesterday morning, this Woody perched very close to the feeders, and sat there for about half an hour, contemplating and watching the environment. Suddenly he went to one the feeders and started to eat for almost 20 minutes ... non-stop!!!! Still surprised he didn't swallow the feeder as well ...

You can't go to Slimbridge and miss the Wood Pigeons!
