In afternoon light ...
The light
remained steady
through
that winter day ...
... a matter of
joy ... when a
special one ...
as this
Wryneck appeared
suddenly ... out
of nowhere ...
... and when least
expected ...

We joined the small crowd up near the sluice where a wryneck had been spotted. It flew around landing in trees and bushes making a few photos possible, but very hard to spot, very well camouflaged!
A long wished for first ever sighting of a Wryneck also gave me one of my personal favourite photographs. I need all the reach I could get so a 2.0xTC was attached to the 1DX2 to capture this shot with my 600mm f4MK2 lens.
A new bird for me...I was out taking pics of the beautiful scenery at the cabin we stayed in on an island, so only had the short lens on the D7100. Within 10 yards of the cabin, I see some movement in the bottom of a small bush, I just managed to get the one shot and couldn't quite make out what...
Wryneck with Crest held High, This is one of the Tamest birds I have ever seen just completely ignores People yesterday started feeding under the Legs of my Tripod a delight to photograph.
Right time, right place for me for this one. So lucky to have come across this Wryneck sitting in someones garden...fired off a couple of shots through a wire fence, then it flew into the tree. At first I thought it was a garden ornament, as it was sat still ;)
