My garden is rather large (10 000 meters square) and I have a wide view (1km) from 2 sides of the house. But a 8x might be ok as well. On wednesday I am planning a visit to a place where I can test a couple of Kite and Bynolyt binoculars (perhaps even a swarovski). Purpose is to find out if I want 8x32/8x42 or 10x32/10x42. I don`t have eyeglasses but I will be in the future ...... I hope I can test a mid -range vs an alpha, just to know the difference. I am very curious about an Alpha 10x32 vs medium 10x42. I already have a 7x so I am leaning to a 10x. I also found a good deal for a Brand new Leica Ultravid 10x42 HD for 1150 Euro, but it almost doubles my original budget and I don`t know if they are worth it .... in addition the Zeiss conquest seems to be a strong competitor. Ideal would be to find an Alpha used or demo for 600/700 but this was a bit to optimistic I`m afraid. I`ve also red some positive things about Kite optics so they get a fair chance as well. I hope they have some models in stock to test .... will have to make a revised shortlist I suppose. New one = warrantee Used one = Only Zeiss, Vortex and Swarovski have no problems with second owners I found To bad there aren`t many stores for bino`s in Belgium - If I can`t test some models wednesday I will pay a visit to Bruges (Sights of nature) or Leuven (Mertens optics) or Oudenaarde (natuurkijkers) as they seem to have a large range and experience. I live in Aalst so both are approx 1hour drive - weekend or upcoming holiday
