Taken today at seashore on Slovenian coast. The white line on head is not so clear, so it is difficult to me to say that is phaeopus!

It looks like Curlew to me N.arquata to me Iztok. Whimbrel N.phaeopus looks shorter-, straigter-billed and less "stretched" to me

Hi Iztok,
Curlew for me also. The species often shows a faint supercilium, much less defined than that shown by Whimbrel.

Very modest of you, Michael. I was hoping for N. borealis!

Hi Jason,

Slender-billed is a genuine possibility on the Slovenian coast . . . (and I knew it would be there, as that's where Mugil is from)

Of course it did help that we were told that it was taken on the Slovenian coast ;)
