On the 27th june we got 3 ex battery hens, the nearest place to us to get chicken products is melbics garden centre so on sunday morning off we went to see what they had got. We came back via the nec as we were cominig along the A45 we saw what at first we thought was a buzzard but as we got closer we notised that in fact it was a red kite has anyone else seen a red kite flying over that steatch of road?

Hi Sandra,

A great sighting for you with the Red Kite! I have seen reports of Red Kites in the Midlands a few times, in fact I had one fly over my garden! I believe it was April last year if my memory serves me correctly!

I'm seeing them increasingly regularly in North Worcestershire (which isn't a million miles away).
Hope this helps.

Seen one by Kettering a short while ago, reproted it to the Red Kite folk, who said that they were getting more reprots from that area of sightings so guess they could be in the Midlands by now. Have seen them up here over Risley Moss and Cheshire, so quite wide spread now, but still not in numbers just individual kites.
