Hi all,
This is 2Gunns, we can use 2Gs for short.
I love all kinds of things watches this that the Third books collections of mini sorts. One thing that has really helped me out is that I've been getting it into nature and I thought to myself what else can I do out here drink my tea walk around then I said of course the birds.
Since then I went through a bit of learning process as I usually do and wound up really appreciating the Kowa brand.
I USE Kowa 8x42 BD II XD wide angle and for me they are amazing.
I also use the Nikon Prostaff 7 10x30 which are very good and light. Good for my son to enjoy and light weight for a good miles hike.
A Nikon Trailblazer, mini folding, 8x25, for a grab and go.
I have acquired a Vortex 10x42 Diamondback Optics Mod edition, just means it's in grey color, with its binos pouch harness. However I don't really use it.
Of interest and I will try to post somewhere else to help both other enthusiasts as well as the company/s Feradyne - Covert Optics
This binocular is 85 to 90%of the Kowa 8x42 BD II XD. I'm not kidding!
The story goes as I was about to purchase the Kowa's I thought maybe in all my research I can find something, as I usually do, that is the stellar exception. Well I did!
The Covert Optics Binoculars 8x42 and 10 x42 are incredible!go and buy a few and give to freinds and family no sht! Bc these are amazing deal!
Original Mr Peas like 500USD, but they are such an unknown company, Feradyne >Covert Optics, of primarily archery trail cams-stools-hides and what not..
I think this is what happened... They decided amongst the 20 other sub branding companies that they would sit around the fire one night drinking their scotch and saying to themselves what else can we do and then one chap pipes ups and says let's make the best binoculars in the world and being as they were all quite sloshed everyone else chimes in and says yeah with dielectric Coatings and fully coated Optics and rubber armor and everything with a center diopter and focus with awesome field of view this is great. And then they did and then because nobody knew about this product with this company and because of its very almost cliche name covert Optics most people probably thought it was a James Bond toy. However so is not the case hundreds thousands of these binoculars are sitting in their warehouse which they've moved around several times now as I've spoken to the service lady and she's fantastic. At an incredible deal of $129. Story Goes is that I ordered an 8x42 as an option because the car was at 450 US dollars was quite expensive for me so at $129 I thought well I'll take a chance and check out the quality of this new name brand sure enough oh my God these things turned out to be amazing but they sent me a 10 x42 and not an 8x42 I was willing to live with that given the quality however one of the little rubber eye ring pieces of rubber had dried out and snapped off after about 3 closures opening and closures I called the service lady and they promptly stated okay I should be receiving a new one in the correct size in a matter of days literally in less than 24 hours they had overnighted a brand new 8x42 to me free of charge just incredible excellent Focus just excellent diopter settings everything just as good as the other one nothing's lacking it's a hard clamshell case but it's good enough for what it is. And can you really argue at $129 for values that in my opinion blows out of the water even the Nikon Pro Staff p7s as well as just as up there with a monarch M5 that I've looked through. I highly recommend if you're looking for a cheap decent parabinoculars off brand as it is but I mean just incredible go with the covert Optics brand 8x42s or 10x42s. I'll post all of this somewhere else on some other thread maybe someone can suggest which one to help others as when I talk to that service lady she said there was approximately 642 left somewhere in a warehouse.
Continuing this introduction I've also picked up a nice Sirui brand with a va-5 fluid motion head and VC something or other Traveler tripod.
This tripod will service the brand new Kowa Spotting scope TSN 55A with the wide angle static lens with the 17 to 40 Zoom eyepiece. Talk about price maybe somebody can suggest that I either look towards getting the '88 in the future the longer future to 3 years depending on how my hobby and habits go or forgo this one and get a 66 so that I can use a 66 or 99 in the future but I feel the 55 to an 88 are a good combo as well. I'm no stranger to a rucksack so wait and sizes aren't really that much of an issue I don't understand how hunters and others can really get caught up about less than half a pound as I'm used to carrying 65 plus pounds for those in the know.
One addition to all of this is that I also purchased a vintage spotting scope from Japan it is the TS- one or two it's angled it's in near perfect condition you can probably still find it on eBay it was listed at about 180 bucks it has a red ring some kind of black rubber or glossy looking eye piece cover as well as I think an extendable shade I'm not sure I can't tell but there's definitely threads on the end of the objective lens I'm looking forward to utilizing it it has a fixed magnification of 20 per the ts12 and 25 for the TS3 depending on which it is set into. I'll be reaching out to research this project a little bit more to discuss which other eye pieces may fit into but I'm a brand loyalist and enjoy the purity of a thing before I start hybridizing and tweaking to my refined needs thus I'd like to find some original other eyepieces which I've read there may exist one or two possibly a 30X wide angle as well as some type of zoomed lens
That's about it everyone so far I've been able to watch great blue herons at the waterfalls turkey vultures and buzzards in indigo bunting red tail hawks a plethora of woodpeckers and even I've managed to spot out a green heron choking down a giant bullfrog and then the same area the next day a small catfish I thoroughly enjoy this and I'm appreciative that this forum and site exists I'm glad to make your acquaintance I'll do my best to check in
