[QUOTE="Rainer, post: 1726008, member: 14273"] Hi all, thanks a lot for all your answers, I have learnt a lot, but my confusion still lasts on. As it seems that there is an agreement in opinions for the 3cy caspian gull, I would like to focus on the adult. The eye was really very dark, is it possible that an adult Herring Gull shows such a dark eye? There is only one blurred image (from a film) which shows open wings, it's a pity. Also attached is an small video clip, which may help. For me it looks even more bulkier than on the first photo. To the probability of large Gulls in this area: In the last three winters only 6 stayed at least one day: 3 Herring (identified and accepted by birdforum.net ;) ), 1 Lesser Black-backed, 1 Greater Black-backed Gull (accepted by the rarity commitee) , 1 unidentified. Strange that there was no Yellow-legged Gull, which I thought is the most likely species. I hope I can get some better viewings and photos of the gulls in better light in the next days.
