Nutcracker

Stop Brexit!
Has it been subject/starred in a film or series of childrens animated films?
Apologies, ...behaviour only

Hmmm . . . not sure that counts as a behaviour question ;)

9. does it spend much of its time in trees or large shrubs? [over 3m tall]

&

Does it nest in holes in trees?

I fear I find a discrepancy in this pair of answers! Trees large enough to have holes big enough for a bird to nest in, generally requires trees larger than 3m tall. Perhaps very occasionally one might find a tree under 3m tall yet stout enough to develop holes large enough to nest in, but it's very, very rare :t:

I find no discrepancy. You asked if spends much of its time in trees, not any of its time. This is a species that people do not generally associate with trees - it generally does not spend much time in trees, even if it does spend a limited breeding period utilizing tree holes.

OK! I'd have called incubation and raising nestlings 'much of its time', but I'll let that pass :t:

Sort of think Waccoe's got it.

Then your definition of 'much of its time' would not correspond to mine - even though swifts for example may incubate and raise nestlings in pine trees, I think no usual person would say they spent much of their time in trees!
