Then...don't buy it ;). I'm really not trying to sell the concept to anybody either. I have an equally hard time buying into the concept that DOF is strictly and solely tied to increasing with decreasing magnification. While I do think that as a whole, 7x glass has a better DOF than 10x glass, not all 7x or 10x appear to me to have the same DOF within their magnification. I stand by my above post that there are very obvious and observable differences in the DOF between all of the 6.5-7x30ish roof prism glass I have or have had and I have had just about all of them. The difference is there. Maybe my eyes have suddenly decided to degrade, maybe it is not length. I don't know what it is, but the difference is there. I always have felt that one thing that is still a valid image difference between the ZEN ED and the alpha class glass is that the DOF is a bit better in the alpha. Measured test courses depend on who measures the course. Are ours the same? Whatever course is chosen, the data sample has to be more than your eyes or just my eyes. I would wager that any mesured test course would show that in general, DOF increases as magnification decreases. I would also wager further that if each individual response to the binocular on the course was evaluated that we would see some responses fall on one side or the other of the group norm. You would have a bell curve and that's why. The only ding I can put against the ZRS HD 8x42 for what it costs is that it has a shallower DOF than say, the Promaster. The Nikon Monarch has a shallow DOF too. So if you don't see the same thing in yours...well we don't see the same thing. ;).
