I like Farlington, although no-one else was there this morning! At least three Lesser Whitethroats still singing!

605) Bearded Tit, missed this in January so glad to catch up with a bird that seldom appears in Devon!

You have inspired me to make the effort to add up my year total - I don't think there is any risk I'm anywhere near your impressive total however - I haven't even been to a European coastline of any sort this year and have not made any effort to see local birds that don't wander onto my plot either.

I feel deeply honoured to have one Jos Stratford be 'inspired' by my larking about birding! It's all gone too quiet - I even tried the pelagic off Scilly last week, but chose the day when it was blowing easterly (about force 6) and not helped when Bob Flood said we never see Wilson's in an easterly!! They failed to catch any Sharks, and before you blow a gasket folks, they do this for tagging purposes only! We did see a large pod of Common Dolphins, to whose presence we were alerted by Jo Pender's dog! The bonuses were lots of Manx, and a good few Storm Petrels. We caught lots of Mackerel, handsome on the Barby!, and we all witnessed the most spectacular thunder and lightning storm! It made for an interesting night under canvas on St Agnes that night....
Still working on the next 400! ;)

Autumn migration under way here at last. Found four Green Sandpipers and two

606) Wood Sandpipers on my local patch this evening.

However, I did an audit of the whole thread at half time at the end of June and have found some discrepancies... like 2 Green Sandpiper and two Kentish Plover, so I'll double check again and see exactly where I should be.

Roll on more migrants, Pip pip!

Got to 1000 in 2014 some time in late June, total now is 1060. Last year I got 1787. If I had gone to somewhere in Asia instead of doing two trips to Africa I'd have easily passed 2000.

That said I'm not going to arrange foreign trips just so I can get a big world year list if that's runs against my overall plan of advancing my cumulative world list.

And, just as on the way west, I stopped in at Maer Lake near Bude today and added:

608) Ruddy Shelduck

I'm expecting a few sharp intakes of breath about his but it is a very wary bird, the locals tell me....

Some more action in Exeter yesterday had me heading once more for Bowling Green Marsh and shortly after I arrived (no hide at present - being extended) I found one of the :

609) Spotted Crakes
Took another couple of hours, but eventually also saw the:
610) Temminck's Stint.

Best birds of the day though, were the 2 Lancaster Bombers heading for a display at Dawlish! Here they are heading off north afterwards.

Maderator.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'll always remember the 'happy accident' of the Bustards which we would've missed had we not overshot the turning for Mareeba Wetlands.:t:

With only four months to go I have been considering the thread title and from wavering between "no" and "yes" I am now trending towards "no".

Unless of course there is some secret trip to the Amazon lurking in the near future.

I'm in the same camp John! But it's not all over yet!

West Cornwall has yielded:

614) Hooded Crow
615) Dotterel

But despite three stupid o'clock starts at Marazion ringing, no sign of Aquatic Warbler.....

The original plan was to climb Kilimanjaro with my son this autumn, and stay on for the extra 350ish.... It's not happening.

There ARE other irons in the fire, so bear with me.

It's very quiet here in Cornwall.... missed Ortolan, but precious else available.
