I'm in the same camp John! But it's not all over yet!

West Cornwall has yielded:

614) Hooded Crow
615) Dotterel

But despite three stupid o'clock starts at Marazion ringing, no sign of Aquatic Warbler.....

You should have gone to the Seine reedbeds near the Pont de Normandie. There is a ringing project catching them on migration every August (every day weather permitting). The year we visited I think they averaged about one a day.

Sorry, shouldn't be encouraging ticking :)

Mike.

Bloody hell John! I thought my list had stalled. You're not going to be beaten by a Scouser fitting his birding in around work ( Shut it all those thinking what you're thinking, most of us do work. ;) ) and Admiral Andre of the Swiss Navy ( Sorry Andre ;) ;) ), are you?

Thanks Mike, it was a case of you shoulda been here a few years ago..... Aquatics were seen regularly and quite often caught, but not this year or last... population decline or change in weather/migration routes? Will we ever know? I spent a morning at Nanjizal too! We ringed 125 birds, nearly all migrants, but once again, you shoulda been here earlier this week - a Paddyfield Warbler was ringed. Hey ho!
Also missed seeing Wryneck and Ortolan..... Nothing on Davidstowe on the way home either.

And Chris I've not given up. Bear with me. My UK list is in the best shape it's ever been in at this time of year, and that was a subsidiary challenge for the year too. pip pip!!

Never make fun of the Swiss Navy. Attached a picture of our heroes at sea (actually on Lake Lucerne)...;)

But if you are wearing a tie, you're back in the dock again;)
For those that don't get it;
What do you call a scouser in a tie?
The accused!

Those of us with affiliations to the Republic of Mancunia often just shorten it to "GUILTY" ;0)

Too little, too late methinks but I'all keep trying:
616) American Golden Plover
617) Barred Warbler
618) Red-breasted Flycatcher
619) Snow Bunting
The eagle-eyed will notice that I'm in Scilly - the Plover was at Davidstowe on the way west, the others on two wind-swept days around St Mary's. Not much else here - nothing new turned up today.

Sorry Jon, you've already had arctic tern (#611)! Have been silently rooting for you all year so I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news! There's a nice hurricane coming your way though - maybe some Yanks as recompense?!

Have you got your trip booked yet?

Start with Azure-winged Magpie outside the cage at Paignton, or have you had that in Spain?

John

It's Iberian Magpie in Spain now John, and yes I did indeed see one in May. Also saw Azure-winged in Hong Kong.

And I forgot that Arctic Tern was already in the bag.....
SO
621) Rose-coloured Starling (instead of Arctic Tern)
623) Jack Snipe

I've sent a message to Andre congratulating him.

Will keep trying. Ex hurricane Gonzalo just dropped AGP and GW Teal here in Scilly, so I have 2 days to find a few biggies, then off to Norfolk some time soon.
