I'll have a stab at Baird's, Ruff and Ringed Plover. Looks a bit long to be a Temminck's and the legs seem darker. Habitat seems wrong for Temminck's also.

Hi there,
I would agree with Ringed Plover and Ruff, but could the other bird be a smallish Sanderling?Doesn't seem to be Temminck's.Did you note the leg colour?

Hi 'Pilatus',
That settles it,a Sanderling moulting from winter to summer plumage.Dark legs and the general colouration rule out Temminck's of any age.Little Stint can be ruled out on account of the streaking/mottling on the throat:eek:nce this area has become more rufous due to wear,Sanderling can slightly resemble adult summer Red-necked Stint, but that species has an unmarked orangey throat, with streaks confined to the upper breast sides.Dunlin would have a black patch on the belly, longer bill, slightly different upperparts etc.

You can even convince yourself it has no hind toe, which is completely daignostic of Sanderling.... it must have been stretching in that first pic because it got so long....

I was leaning towards Sanderling becuase it was so big (compared to Ruff) and was way too long-legged looking for a Baids.... VERY glad that second pic was there though :)
