ok here are the two shots of the waders which were flying towards me, any ideas of what they might be as what I think they are still hasn't been said.

I'm a bit puzzled by this one, don't think they are Ruff - can't see any foot projection?

A very wide range of waders there and yet the bird i think they are is more common than all of them

Yeah didnt think of that, just cant think what else would be considered more common than all the others mentioned.

Well as has just been pointed out I dont think they are Redshank but for all i assumed they were Ruff they should show toe projection and it does seem rather a large flock for ruff so I'm a bit stumped.

because black winged stilts have amazingly long legs which isn't the case in the above photos!
