I am planning on getting a 7d later in the year, but I am looking forward to a good review of the 550.

I realise the 7D is a much more capable camera, but at near half the price it is tempting? :eek!:

Has anyone tried the cropped video out for birding yet...? Sounds like a good idea, it gives you a 480x640pixel video at 7x the magnification of the full image. I would have thought that this resolution would be good enough for some pretty reasonable record-shot videos. The only test video (not birds) I've seen on-line so far is via the link below. This link also mentions the possibility of taking full-frame video and cropping them later. If anyone knows how to do this I be very interested to know about it as I've got a Canon 500D.
