Hiya Jerry & Martin.....to my knowledge none of Nikon's Premium Porros (E &SE) have had the twistups....the late Audubons do tho' (actually very stiff pullups) and the Discoverers had very loose all-or-nothing twisties.....guess ya can't have everything. Of the current 7x available, none save the FL and the RenZay have the kind of fov's ya really want. Leitz, EDG's and Swaro are 8*, Swift Eaglet is just over 7. I think ya need at least a 60* afov to be afforded that sought-after picture window view. I have some very slight astigmatism, so I wear glasses most of the time for viewing. But I've found that my eyes aren't always exactly the same day-to-day so I hafta adj the diopters frequently. The Audubon is the only one that I can use with or without the specs and it's always the same. Jerry, I'd asked in another post (you may not have seen) if you lived anywhere near Minot. According to some of the reports I see on Phyllis Hammer's website (Attractions), there are several birders from that area that give great reports on sightings in several of the city parks during the migrations. There's a network of folks reporting all the way from Wood Buffalo to Aransas. It started out as a way to track the Whooping Cranes (they usually stop at the Great Salt Plains NWR near where Phyllis lives) but now includes reports and pix on everything.
