It has more depth of field and focus is less picky. Often 7x binoculars have a wider field,  too. Doesnt sound like much, but 10x gives a much larger (40+%) image than 7x, lengthwise. The area covered by 7x is double that of 10x, assuming the same degree field ep. I've been considering 16x or 12x Aculon for wide open fields,  the beach, hawks, and some astronomy lately.10x would give 25% longer image, 8x about 50% more area. Which binoculars do you like better?Saw some of the comments, I handhold 20x80's for astronomy. Handholding hurts resolution even in 7x imo. Holding out by the objectives helps a lot, I'll have to try holding one side</blockquote>
