[QUOTE="ksmit123, post: 3467335, member: 135185"] Thank you for your response David. I'm well aware that the Vanguard binoculars particularly the Endeavours have received favourable praise and many fans, predominately because of their "bang for your buck" factor. That being said, I briefly owned a pair of Vanguard Endeavour ED II 10x42 binoculars last year and due to a number of factors I didn't like the binocular and sent it back within a week. I thought the build quality was below par and the functionality of the binoculars was average at best. I also didn't believe the optical performance was worthy of all the praise it had received. I think it has also turned me off open bridge binoculars of late which is inhibiting my interest in the Endeavour ED II 8x32's and if I were to pursue another Vanguard binocular it might be the Spirit ED 8x36 because of it's solid bridge design. Do you mean the Hawke Endurance ED? Because I read your review on the Hawke Frontier ED, not the Hawke Endurance ED. Or do you mean Vanguard Endeavour ED or the Vanguard Endeavour ED II? I can somewhat understand your hesitation to quote a sweet spot percentage but 30-80% is large difference and very vague. 50% of difference... I agree that due to regular use and wear and tear that hinges may soften and that the issue is often trivial and requires a tightening of an internal screw but it also appears to be quite common issue amongst the Nikon Monarch 7 and Kite Lynx HD. Which causes me to question the build quality of these binoculars, particularly if the binocular hinges are soft/weak straight out of the packaging. I do not want to have to send a binocular back to the factory for maintenance within 18 months from purchasing/receiving the binoculars. Full review.
