A Bald Eagle with a Kill (1 Viewer)

This is what got me into birding!

We were on the deck and this massive bald eagle with something in it's talon landed in a nearby tree! And then the excitement started as it took off!

What do you think the prey is... a mink or some other weasel?

It's not a Weasel.. It could be a Mink although it looks a little large... How about a Pine Martin?? (looks a little fat) or even a young Otter???

I am intrigued in what it managed to catch, I can't even work out what part of the animal it is even holding, it looks long.

A half-eaten American marten, maybe? The rear end looks very much like a marten of sorts but somehow, some parts seem to be missing.

The local bald eagle population is what got me into birding. (a whole two weeks ago! lol) Awesome shot!
