This sounds great!

“A Birder’s Guide” tells the story of a pivotal couple of days in the life of bird-obsessed 15-year-old David Portnoy. While his father prepares to be married 18 months after the death of David’s mother, David encounters a duck that he and his two birding pals, Peter and Timmy, cannot identify. A blurry photo suggests it could be a Labrador Duck. Although they know the species is extinct, the possibility that they could rediscover a lost bird prompts them to hit the road in hopes of finding and photographing the duck.

Ellen, a new classmate at their school and a budding photographer, joins them on their quest, and along the way, they consult Lawrence Konrad, an ornithologist played by Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley.

Bah humbug
It may be totally naff, or reasonably cool, but this film is newly released on Netflix in case anyone is interested. It does have birds in it, which is always nice.

I've watched the first 5 minutes so far, and will probably try and continue in due course.

Casting by Ava (?) Kaufman, but probably no relation to Ken.

Careful what you say ;) don't need any further casual references to "those guys looking for the rare "paradise blue woodpecker"" in the back or in the front focus of our films and TV shows.

Hope this one will be done right though!

Cute movie. Worth watching. Assuming, of course, that you can get past the fact that the plot centers around a pretty ludicrous ID. Look past the specifics presented on-screen to the spirit of it.
