A nice surprise (1 Viewer)

My wife and I just returned from a two-week birding expedition to Southwest Florida (most time spent at Ding Darling, with other outings to Loop Road in the Everglades and Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary) where we managed to see 55+ species, photographing about 45 or so.
Stuck in the cold in Canada, we decided today to check out one of our local patches to see what winter birds we could spot.
And what a pleasant surprise ... among a flock of about 50 male and female mallards, we spotted one lone male Northern Pintail, a first for both of us.
Ain't birding wonderful!

cheers,
jim
