A pair of Zeiss 7X50 , Reproduced or not! That is the question (2 Viewers)

Greetings new friends!

I posses these BLC Zeiss binoculars and I was wondering if they were reproductions! 7X50 BLC with a serial number imprinted...

IF they are original they seem to be missing the rubber which is of course possible. They are VERY heavy as well.

What is throwing me off is the red colored lens! Is this the way they were made, were they replaced or is this a newer product all together?

How does one tell the reproductions from the originals?

Thank you for your time and with great respect,

After ca. 61200 serial (1943) the colour of the anti-reflection coatings of these changed from blue to red. Coating colour has no influence on the view. That series was the 3rd and last series to be produced of these.
Yours are not only missing the rubber, they are also missing the fold-away eye cups which would have been secured by a nut and bold through those holes on the sides of the oculars. They could be folded away for easier cleaning of the eye lenses.
They are also missing the ocular cover which was attached by an elastic to the black thing with the hole in the middle of the upper arms, where the central tube is.
Very nice and envyable item.

- Were 'reproductions' of these ever made?

- given the prices asked for these, I'm surprised anyone stumping up for them wouldn't have done at least some reading up about what "colored lenses" might be...

Hi all, thanks for your help I'm sorry for my delay !

So these only would have been made during war time ? (Ww2)

What would you say your value is for something like these in the condition it's in?

I really appreciate the insight! Where do you feel the value of these would be in the condition they're in? I always appreciate history even if it's in rough shape

I am one of those weirdos that values history and historical pieces for just that, so asking me about financials is pointless. Since yours are missing many original bits and pieces which are just about impossible to replace due to unavailability, I personally would pay no more than $500 - $750 for them (if they were complete about $1500 - $1750). YMMV
