Hi Ruth. I certainly don't mind you uploading your painting. It's a beautiful painting and really compliments the thread. It captures the essence of the thread in one view. Thank you. Hi Bill. There were quite a few Bridled Guillemots around. I just didn't get particularly good pics of them. There were a good few chicks as well so this pear shaped egg business does work. The Swans have nested here for years but the cygnets have a high mortality rate. They are usually down to 2 or 3 by the end of summer. I will make a note, I visit through until November. Hi Kezza. The Guillemots and Razorbills usually leave early July. Certainly by the end of July they have all gone. The Kittiwakes still have chicks with them until the end of July, perhaps early August. Looking at previous records my bird counts for August are in the 30s. Of my other reports Holy Island was the other near here. My counts there in August are in the 40s. Last 17/8 I recorded several quartering Short-eared Owls, 10 types of waders including 200+ Golden Plover, and 2 good views of Stoats. I visit both these places April to November and enjoy them all the time. Hi Roziante. I've been a regular visitor to this place since 1980 and never seen Gannets on the stacs before. Fingers crossed it's going to be a regular thing. I do see Stoats around from time to time. I watched one stalking a Great Skua once but it thought better of it in the end. I've never seen them do what you saw though. I bet you were enthralled. I would have been.
