It did allow for a fair bit of wobble and there are obvious indentations from the lens cap tethers which look permanent that don't appear on yours.If the serial numbers start at 1 and yours was bought 3 years ago with a 43X serial then it appears mine had been collecting dust for years.To recap, I bought mine directly from Nikon Australia.
