Ads mentioned in another thread that Allbinos.Com recently posted a review of the Nikon EDG-II 8X32. Since Allbino reviews seem to generate some interest on the Forum and the Nikon scored exceptionally well, I thought it deserved a separate thread. Here is the review: http://www.allbinos.com/index.php?test=lornetki&test_l=281 Second, the Biomania website posted a blog entry last month writing about using the EDG-II 8X32 to watch some crows and then concluded with a very brief comparison of the EDG with the Nikon SE and EII. The site rated the EDG with the best in this class. Here is the site. Look to the upper right to have Google translate to the language of your choice. http://www.binomania.it/nikon-edg-8x32-alla-ricerca-del-corvo-imperiale/ Allbinos Revew The final score for the EDG-II 8X32 is 148.6. That is the highest score for any 8X30/32 binocular reviewed. The next closest 8X32 is the Zeiss FL with a score of 143.6. Compared to all reviewed binoculars, the EDG-II 8X32 came in fourth. 1st - 153.8 Nkon EDG-II 10X42 2nd - 153.6 Swarovski 10X42 EL SV 3rd - 151.1 Swarovski 8.5X42 EL SV 4th - 148.6 Nikon EDG-II 8X32 Allbino arbitrarily assigns a score of 1.5 for the tripod category for all 8X32 binoculars reviewed because they state that "a tripod stand exit is rarely used in this class of equipment". The only "Con" listed was "field of view could have been a bit wider" but then in the details they said "A big field of view for this class of equipment". They did mention in the narrative " that the Nikon EDG is physically the heaviest and the biggest among top-of-the-range 8x32 roof prisms devices. Maybe it takes that little extra size to score with the 42mm models. The Allbino reviews are not the final word on what is the best binocular, but it does give a general idea what a binocular is like.
