Thanks Val, glad to be help. |:D| Was bizarre to be showing another birder around my little patch really as it's just a little stretch of river near the town but telling Dave about the different birds I see at different parts was great as it brought home how much I've seen there. Entering into dangerous listing territory I know that over the last year or so between Barnes Mill and the town centre (no more than a mile of river) I've seen:

Blue Tit
Great Tit
Long-tailed Tit
Robin
Goldcrest
Reed Bunting
Reed Warbler
Sedge Warbler
Skylark
Blackcap
Chiffchaff
Whitethroat
Goldfinch
House Sparrow
Blackbird
Stonechat
Starling
Fieldfare
Redwing
Song Thrush
Meadow Pipit
Magpie
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw
Jay
Green Woodpecker
Great Spotted Woodpecker
Lapwing
Snipe
Jack Snipe
House Martins
Swifts
Pied Wagtail
Grey Wagtail
Common Tern
Black-headed Gull
Common Gull
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Herring Gull
Canada Goose
Grey Heron
Little Egret
Cormorant
Tufted Duck
Mallard
Gadwall
Goosander
Mute Swan
Little Grebe
Coot
Moorhen
Kingfisher
Kestrel
Sparrowhawk
Collared Dove
Woodpigeon
plus probably some others that I can't remember (I think I've seen other birds here but none I can wholeheartedly say were definitely in this little stretch). And also Bats (daubenton's I think) and I've found signs of Badgers, Muntjac Deer, Moles, Foxes and 'possibly' Water Vole and Otters. Really can't be sure at all about the last two though as my animal signs knowledge is very shaky - have found small prints near the water (though indistinct and couldn't get near them) and what may have been a otter spraint trodden in by someone's boot but very unsure about those. Another shot of the Tufted Ducks here: http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=289797 and more from the day including the photos I took at Warley Place on my flickr pages: http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulforsdick/archives/date-taken/2010/01/21/detail/
