My wife was really pleased as Wryneck was on her '3 to see' list. Well, i'd read about Syrian Woodpecker being a possible in this area, so i thought "that's a juv Syrian by the Wryneck" and was pleased we'd both got Lifers! After breakfast i consulted my dog-eared copy of Collins, only to realise the Woodpecker we'd actually seen was a Middle-spotted Woodpecker. I'd never seen one of those before either <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" /></p><p>So...there you go. </p><p></p><p>dave...</p><p></p><p>p.s.
