American duck (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys

On Facebook I saw an image of this duck seen in America and some of the locals there are saying Ruddy duck....I cannot see ruddy duck in it.

The person was asked for a second image and a totally different looking bird came up....But has said it is the same bird.

It has a wing flash that looks green but the bill looks more like a blue-winged teal.

Any idea's gladly welcomed.

Regards

Dave

If both the same bird , then clearly a greenwinged teal. At least the bird in the 2nd photo is (look at the speculum with the light brownish line before the green and the thinner white behind; and the outer (here lower)part of the speculum black)

i agree first photo looks a bit odd for Greenwinged and in some features better for Bluewinged, but it is an odd angle and difficult to judge which species.
