Anatolian Leopard shot in Turkey. (1 Viewer)

Neither was the bloke it was hanging off.

The article reads to me like: shepherd sees leopard near flock, fetches rifle-owning cousin and has possible danger shot then makes up excuse. Nothing short of picture of injuries to shepherd would convince me otherwise, there would certainly be one in any UK press article.

Cheers Mark. I hadn't realised no Anatolian Leopards have been recorded for so long. I'd previously read of rumours about an investigation into cubs being found some way out of Antalya but it sounds like it came to nought. Talking to my wife's parents, who remember
stories about a smaller species of cat when they lived in Yozgat district, but definitely not a Leopard.

Mmmm,

Lynx or Caracal ?

A couple of news items here recently about the reappearance of Anatolian Leopard. Certainly Leopards caught on the camera traps but possibly journalistic licence, and they’re Persian Leopards.

Perhaps someone with a better source or better Turkish has a more accurate idea?
Also Caracal with cubs filmed close to me in Muğla recently.
