Good! I think these are your best yet, they're superbly done.

Have to agree! These are really striking and also seem your best to me. I'd be tempted to leave them because they're so successful as is, then maybe do a new one in watercolor. Either way it's nice to see you back with such striking work.

Thanks Ken / Mike,
40 minutes with a blank chilled out head, and a new box of Pencils from Mike 'Woody'. Take the point about another with Watercolour, may persue a few more rough sketches first though....

No groaning from me Andrew - these drawings are FABULOUS! :t: Years ago I used to love doing detailed pencil drawings of stuff like this.

I'm terrible on walks as I'm forever picking up seed heads, pine cones, shells etc to sketch......but weeks/months later they are still in the glass bowl on my desk waiting to be drawn :smoke: Really need to just face my fears and pick up those pencils!!! |:$|

Great sketches of these, Andrew! Our American Goldfinches over here love thistle seeds, so as soon as I saw your sketches, I immediately visualized a flock of goldfinches coming in for the treats.

Best drawings I've seen from you Andrew - very nicley crafted and keenly observed. And a perfectly balanced composition across the sheet - terrific work!

hope it warms up soon, signs are going up in the markets warning us that all our produce is about to go up due to freezes in Yuma (Arizona) and Mexico where our fresh stuff comes from this time of year.

great sheets of sketching.

C'est pas ma faute, je suis anglais.
fingers crossed some decent weather will come your way soon! good to see that you braved the cold to bring back these sketches - the lappies look as fed up of the grey weather as you do - great result!

Sorry for the dodgy lighting, only got the one lamp working in my 'space' at the moment....Yet another cold and blustery weekend passes, this was taken from a few last minute photos of some 'lappies' as we were departing the wilderness of the marshes...Does anyone actually know when spring and daylight starts this year..?

Nicely done, Andrew. Sounds like we're having very similar (theoretical) springs at the moment. We've had late snow and below-freezing temps a number of days recently - very untypical for late Feb and early Mar here.
