The bizarre thing about the article is that is skews away from the actual incident to ranting on about twitchers, the RSPB and general public who don't like anglers. What has Lee Evans and a 80,000miles in one year in pursuit of a year list record got to do with some poor sod being beaten up over the shooting of a single Cormorant, the answer is nothing. It just comes across as unfounded attack on birders. The article clearly stated that the assailant was a presumed birder, presumed I'm guessing because he didn't have a pair of binoculars around his neck and scope and tripod over his shoulder. And because he wasn't obviously a birder he must have been a hired heavy, hired by birders. I'm also guessing that the assumption that the assailant was a birder is because the area is frequented by birders and because it was a bird that got shot 1 and 1 were put together and they came up with 5. Perhaps it was just some very upset member of the public who was outraged at the shooting and lumped him one. He has Cormorants raping the waterways and birders hiring the mob, what next The Butterfly Consevation Society taking out a Fatwa on the Reptile and Amphibian Society because someone with a picture of a toad on their T. Shirt parked in front the reserve gate. The whole thing is ludicrous. An assault occured but we all get tarred with the same unsubstantiated brush. Now I don't condone the assault but this article could perpetrate annimosity between the birders and anglers, but perhaps thats the point?
