so you missed all the endemics at Lomas de Lachay because your guide said you saw all your target birds...???

some notes: Lima has 6 months of fog and 6 months of sunny weather. The story goes the Spainiards decided to found the city when they arrived because it was sunny....

There is no Raimondi's yellow finch in the Santa Eulalia valley high up. They are near the coast, and ironically, Lomas de Lachay is a good place.

You didn't make any stops on the way down from Santa Eulalia because your driver / guide spent that time for breakfast. Lame.

Your Large-billed Plover is probably a Tern

And your Red-eyed vireo probably a Chivi...

all in all some really good birds as well: Agami Heron, Solitary and Ornate Hawk- Eagle, Banded Antbird, Chestnut-crested Cotinga, Black-faced Cotinga, Pavonine Quetzal, Golden-plumed parakeet...

Don't let one bad experience put you off; Peru is easily in the top 5 of best countries in the world for birding, in terms of variety, landscapes, adventure and twisty roads!

We lost a lot of time up in the Eulalia Gorge because of the puncture. The driver didn't know how to use a jack ....
We will return to Peru - there are so many birds there we haven't seen yet - but we will be using a different guide!
