Dear all, Quite a few companies have their binoculars made by Kamakura, Meopta or one of the many Chinese binocular companies and quite a few companies do not like us to know that "their' binoculars never were produced in a factory, which carries their name. The Romans already said "mundus vult decipi"= the world wants to be deceived. For the companies that really make the binoculars with the different brand names it is not important that we know, they get their money anyhow from Brunton, Bushnelll, Bresser, Eschenbach, Leuplod, Leica (the 77mm Leica telescope was made for Leica), Zeiss (old Diascope by Meopta, present Conquest by Kamakura) and many many others. But we as consumers like to believe in fairy tales and a famous brand name helps to maintain the illusion of that fairy tale. Personally I am not so much interested in that fairy tale, since Leica-Meopta did a very good job and so do different Companies-plus Kamakura. Important for us is the quality of the produced instruments and a high service level. Gijs van Ginkel
