Hi everyone,
This observation was made in a flooded meadow near the Atlantic coast of Portugal south of Peniche. I am uncertain about the species of this bird. It had dull colors and a uniform brown overall appearance on the upper parts. It had slightly diffuse dark brownish stripes, accentuated on the flanks. The legs were not very dark (the sun was shining from the front), but they were not pinkish like in the meadow pipit. The white wing bars were very faint. Meadow pipits and water pipits were seen in the same place on the same visit. Should I consider this individual to be a less typical meadow pipit or a rock pipit (Anthus petrosus)?
Thanks in advance.
