Anyone else like Birds AND planes? (9 Viewers)

Most of my 400 hours are on G-AWBC which I owned with 6 others for many years, mine is a bit different to 'KX (I think) as it had retractable gear and a wobbly prop, two more expensive things that can get you into trouble. It is said that, of pilots who fly retractable gear aircraft, there are those who have landed with the wheels up......and there are those that are going too. Fortunately I didn't.

I did fly over the USS JFK years ago though (in the same place as the USS TR.

Yep. Dave is current on the variant you mention courtesy of one of the Blackbushe organisations, but his principal mount is the Farnborough Aero Club 'KX which is cheaper to operate. On a trip such as Wednesday's, the lower performance of 'KX compared to the wobbly prop rectractables is actually an advantage.

So far he has no wheels up landings to his debit, long may it continue. :t:

Have to admit i've always been fascinated with planes, even when young, but not enough to hang around Myrtle Avenue in all weathers. ;) Just out of interest, any stamp collectors out there? I have a (very) modest thematic collection.

No, but I did treat myself a few years ago to a Penny Red, Penny Black and 2d Blue. I have nearly bought a £5 Orange too but couldn't justify the price in the end, might buy a forgery instead!

Soon gets pricey doesn't it? I bought an unperforated block of Chad Great Egret stamps once, which the seller very honestly said were likely to be forgeries.

Yeah I love this, I love going to watch planes landing and taking off as well as the wild life, maybe the two go together I never thought about it like that before

B-25 flew over as I was driving out from the local patch, this afternoon.
Kept at Smartt field, part of a commemorative collection.
Dressed as a ground attack version, although it may be an later alteration.

The one being auctioned is P9374 - illustrated on its own taxying to take off and landing back, and as one of four Spitfire Mk Is flying in formation at last year's Flying Legends airshow at Imperial War Museum Duxford, a former RAF airfield that was home to the controversial "Big Wing" led by Douglas Bader during the Battle of Britain.

Here's some from DFW. Rode the skylink during a layover and delay, in addition to what I got from the terminal. Photos my copyright, fwiw

737 in front of massive A380. And the 737 looks bigger, since it's closer!

A few Eagles from Lakenheath (non-native Eagles and this is RAF Lakenheath, not the RSPB reserve!)

Blimp went by my house.

A couple of video clips of a Coastguard S-92 searching the river Tay at Dundee for a reported person in the water, from a week or so ago when I was out birding around the city and on the way out to my 'patch' at Riverside Nature Park. There are a few more aircraft videos on my Youtube channel, and lots of birds. All taken with Nikon P900.

If anyone's interested, RAF Fairford is hosting 3 B52H until 22 June, with irregular visits from B2 Spirits (tonight they have two U2s hidden in the hangars, but unfortunately all closed up.)

The airfield has Brown Hares, Skylarks, Yellowhammers, abundant Buzzards and Red Kites; and also gets flyovers from Cotswold Water Park - I had Oystercatchers, Lapwings and a Greenshank this evening. I'll post some pix of the aircraft when I've had time to process them, I'm days behind due to time in the field at the moment.

Hudbrel Spit

Today a Spitfire looped-the-loop over Pagham Harbour while birders waited for the Hudbrel to show.
