Hi, I write some impressions ( not a complete "review", I don’t have tools) on this binocular that I’ve been using for a couple of weeks on the day-landscape ( then I’ll integrate after a few evenings on the night sky).
It is compact and a bit squat/square, old porro style, weighs enough (660 gr.) and gives an impression of overall robustness.
It has individually adjustable eyepieces, that is an if, with its disadvantages and advantages.
As with many binoculars today, the image is not immediately fitting (the Ae 8x40 fits better, if only for the pupil) but you have to stop and put your eyes precisely.
The field, although declared to equal of other 8x that I own ( Opticron adventurer t 8x32, Nikon AE 8x40, Nikon sportstar ex 8x25. Yes , I do not have Alphabin...), seems more restricted, as afov, some degree than the others.
If the other three are about 65 degrees with the classical measurement, this appears more towards 60 degrees, at the edge of the wide angle.
Maybe I’ll check the fov to see the actual magnification.
On the optics we are absolutely fine, it keeps more or less what it promises.
Maybe it’s not a pure Apo, because with the eyes set badly here is the on the edges some light blue or yellow color sometimes you can guess, but anyway it is chromatically very well controlled.
On contrast and sharpness and resolution, we are really a nice step above the other three I own.
The image is beautiful bright, very resolved ( to eye, up to 70% of the field, at least) and very contrasted, a real pleasure. Optically, a class higher than the other three 8x that I own, (central resolution apart for L' Ae 8X40 that is very close to it, but has a lower contrast and also loses more quickly towards the edges.. ), and for 180€ (at black Friday, now 230...) it seems not bad.
See you soon with new updates, Hi
