You're probably right, Brian. It was on the small size (wing length c 16mm - I've posted another photo to try and indicate its size) but well within the range.
I just heard from my CR that I had a Haplotinea insectella in July last year - a first modern record for Surrey.

Agree with Brian. The wings look too rounded for Mottled Grey.

Not much in the trap last night
3 x Brimstone
1 x Hebrew Character
1 x Clouded Drab
1 x Garden Carpet ( found on shed near the trap)
I also had this one on the shed near the trap but I cant decide if it is a Currant Pug or a Wormwood Pug, anyone got any ideas please.

A Welsh birder in Dorset!
Had quite a good night last night, plenty of moths plus a new species for the year.
Common Quaker 6
Clouded Drab 3
Hebrew Character 2
Brindled Beauty 1
Early Grey 1
Powdered Quaker 1 (NFY)

Also the Clouded drab i reported on the 17/04 turned out to be a Northern Drab (see moth ID forum)

After a few clear and cold nights the last one was a bit better. I turned on the trap again, and in it this morning was 94 moths of 14 species, one new for the year;

Kentish glory- Endromis versicolora 1 (male)

In my trap last night I had 17 moths.
12 species, including some I haven't seen before

1 x Poplar Kitten - beautiful moth
1 x Waved Umber - very striking
1 Micro - not sure yet
2 Pugs - no sure yet.
1 x Big angry thing that landed on the table near to the light. (ID sought under ID thread).

A Welsh birder in Dorset!
A day at Newport Wetlands turned up a few Nettle Tap and a possible Diamond backed moth. Plenty of butterfly around aswell including a single Painted Lady and an impressive 36 Orange-tip and 22 Speckled Wood!
