Last night was a little dissapointing with just common quaker, hebrew character and clouded drab making appearances. Popped down my uncles last night who was running his trap at the time and he got Double striped Pug, clouded drab, common quaker and a 20-plumed Moth during the short length of time i was there.

most exciting morning of the year so far for me even though i only had one moth (shuttle-shaped dart, NFY); when i opened the trap i was delighted to find a magpie caterpillar sitting in one of the eggboxes. we had adults absolutely littering our garage last year around late june so i'm not completely surprised, but i definitely wasn't expecting to find one in my trap!

A very good night here, lots of moths in the trap- 237 moths of 16 species in total, but mostly the common Orthosias (109 Hebrew character) and so. But there was one new for my garden:

Scoliopteryx libatrix- Herald 1

This is the second of this species for me ever, and definitely a nice looking moth!

Put the trap on for a couple of hours last night, the first time this year. Just one moth but a new one for the garden (and for me) - a Powdered Quaker.

Conditions have been poor this week with clear skies but I did get my first brimstone of the year last night. I had a pug which didn't look right for brindled but unfortunately it escaped before I could photo it!

Another good night here, 198 moths of 19 species came to my trap tonight.

A few of them were new for the year:
Earophila badiata- Shoulder-stripe 1
Trichopteryx polycommata - Barred Tooth-striped 2
Semioscopis steinkellneriana 1 (second registration in my region, the first one I had last Year)

And two were new for me and my region:
Orthosia populeti- Lead-coloured Drab 1 (see ID thread) [updated]
Ypsolopha asperella 1 (see ID thread) [updated]

Thanks to Harri for help with ID!

There was also another stunning male Kentish Glory in the trap, and my son was happy to pose with him :flyaway:

In contrast with Svein, I had one moth of one species - but it was new for the year.... pebble prom.
I also had a white-shouldered house moth indoors.

I had 204 moths last night and 20 species! Trouble is there were no new ones. 73 Hebrew Characters, felt quite giddy from counting them!
One out of the ordinary though, a Dotted Chestnut. My second so far.
I wish you could send a Kentish Glory down to me Svein |:D|
