Woke to a terrific thunderstorm overhead at 6am. Dull and murky morning, then sunny afternoon and 19c. Overcast again now and humid. Wouldn't be surprised if there were another storm.

Awww not fair *stamps foot in huff* I love thunderstorms but haven't had a decent one for years! :smoke:

Very foggy today. Bad in Alnwick and at 5pm Neil and I popped along to the coast at Boulmer - me hoping to see any returning hirundines. Whoops - BIG mistake!!! The fog was incredibly thick and we couldn't see more than 50 yards in front of us! 3:)

Off work tomorrow so looking forward to visiting Low Newton - should get a few spring birds there :t: *probably jinxed myself now!* ;) :king:

I love thunderstorms too! ;) We also missed them today (or should I say that they missed us!) In fact we had only one very brief shower around 14.00, since then it has been dry and brightened up. Thought that I was going to get a sunset, but the sun is setting at the same speed that the cloud bank is moving....if that makes sense!

Only slightly misty first thing this morning. Woke up at 7am and we went out straight away to Alnmouth beach. Had five Sandwich Terns feeding in the estuary mouth *1st ones of the year for me* and the sun was just starting to get out as we left at 9am :t:
Had breakfast now and just off out for a couple of hours' to Hulne Park to look for any returning migrants.......and the elusive Hawfinches and Green Woodpeckers :king:
Got my camera for any wild flowers too ;)

It's quite sunny outside now and turning into a lovely day :t:

Funny old day, overcast with threatening skies, but lovely when the sun breaks through the clouds.
A Shelduck flying over yesterday was a rare treat! :t:

Once a bird lover ... always a bird lover
Another thunder storm last night, just after midnight. Decided to turn of the electrics including the TV/ PC as it sounded a bit close and unsettling for my liking. :eek!:

Today we have woken up to mist and murk instead and it still feels although thunder is in the air.

More heavy rain overnight. Very threatening now though every so often the sun tries to break through but with little success. About 15c.

Grey and chilly start but by 10.30am the sun came out and it's now really lovely outside :t: Thermometer is showing a reading of 24 oC - that seems rather high :eek!:

Forgot to add: Thursday's trip to Hulne Park gave me swallows, house martins and a singing blackcap and (best of all!) I heard a green woodpecker yaffle TWICE but failed to see it....but at least I know they are there now!

A lovely sunny, warm day here today.
Chiff Chaff, Blackbird, Robin, Dunnock, in the dawn chorus at Exeter, very early a.m.
Swallows at the racecourse & a pair of Linnets. Sky Lark singing his heart out above the field & a pair of Canada Geese honking to each other as they flew overhead. Pied Wagtails everywhere I went. Wonderful & I wasn't even bird watching.

Gloriously sunny day, warm after a very chilly north wind through the morning. All the usual visitors, but no sign of Mrs Pheasant today.

Forgot to add that I've been watching Storm Chasers on Discovery Channel over here recently. They get SOOOOOO excited about it all and, much as I would love to see a big tornado for real, I think I'll settle for watching it on TV!

A hazy beginning to a lovely day. While gardening I noticed some Beeflies and a Speckled Wood butterfly and saw my first Swallow. Lots of midges dancing around too, the ones with the long dangly legs.

I've watched Storm Chasers too Wendy. Although I find weather really interesting I think those guys are mad!

After yesterday's grey start, which turned into a beautiful afternoon and evening, today has started with not a cloud in the sky and wall-to-wall sunshine. A great gardening day; and that's where I'm heading.

Baz.
