In many cases there is no where else to find so much practical experience. It is a valuable resource that mainsteam birdwatching enthusiasts can use if and when they need the depth of knowledge it holds. We may not always agree amongst ourselves, but the reader at least understands why opinion differs. It has the added advantage that most posters actually do use the kit for birding purposes, which makes it sort of relevant. Its here to use or ignore, but 6,000 hits compared to 32 posts on only one item  suggests that 'real' birders find it useful if only for light relief. Anyway if you read the local patch forum for Wiltshire you might get the impression very few perople actually watch birds around here anyway! (Actually blatently untrue before I am lynched, but it does suggest in Troubadors terms that Wiltshire is a very very tiny corner of the real world!)</blockquote>
