In those 9 years, I have met 1 person with more than one pair of bins and it is a woman I have known since I began birding. She is the only person I have met that knew there where more than 8x42 or 10x42 formats available. I am the only one so far that has 5 pair of bins & two scopes. I had a female birding friend who hated that I listed, counted and got really bitchy one day because I had the nerve to have 2 pairs of bins with me on a trip. She didn't see the need... not that it was any of her business. I can say that 99.9% of the birders I have met don't care to discuss or research bins. They get what they can afford at either end of the spectrum and never question it and go on birding. The members who post here are NOT representative of the birders I have met.I pretty much read the posts in the optics forums, some in the cameras. I find the conversations here fascinating and educational, even when y'all argue like a bunch of women! I am grateful for all the information posted here and when I went to my first out of state birding festival in May, I was tickled pink to visit Optics Alley! I can tell you they more more than a bit surprised when I could actually discuss optics, not just ask the nice man what I should buy! I definitely had their respect by time I left, thanks to all of you! It is also completely this groups fault that I have the 5 pair of bins and the 2 scopes. Totally your fault that I spend a huge amount of time looking at & for a new pair....that I really don't need.....but I do!Hi, I am Lu and I am an optiholic.
