The north Devon King Eider was an unexpected treat, especially when it returned and was attaining spectacular adult plumage, only to depart... Looking at the Humes Leaf Warbler at Tehidy Country Park, on my own... Two and a half weeks in Trinidad & Tobago, I put down Swallow-tailed Kite as bird of the trip, (amongst 148 lifers). Later saw another one over Miami where we stopped on our return. Great views of the Little Crake at Exminster. The Alder Flycatcher on a perfect day at Lands End. Finding juvenile Black-shouldered Kite near the village we visit in Andalucia, pretty sure a pair breeds there. Finding a Desert Wheatear in North Devon. And yesterday, retrapping a Blackcap I ringed in my garden exactly a year ago. jon
