Hi Everyone, I'm hoping someone on this forum is able to identify a bird from the feather I found in my garden. The feather is 5cm long from the barb to the end and 1 cm wide.

Thanks

Hi Tracy and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I moved your post to the ID forum as this is where the experts in identification hang out.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

It's an outer tail feather of a Rosyfaced Lovebird. They do not occur naturally in Johannesburg, so it must have originated from a captive bird (it may be a feather blown from a cage, not necessarily a free flying bird).
Rollers do not have red or green colour on the wing or tail feathers.

Thank you for all your help, the area I love as quite a few of them 15-20 that love I the roof awning of the houses. Only ever seen them from a far didn’t know their tail is so colourful.
