We take great pleasure in naming this new form for Manuel A. Plenge, both in recognition of his contributions to Peruvian ornithology and in appreciation of his friendship and courtesies he has extended to ornithologists from all over the world who have come to his home in search of information concerning Peru's avifauna.
Etymology: It is a pleasure to name this new flycatcher for Manuel A. Plenge, in recognition of his contrbutions to our knowledge of Peruvian birds, and of the assistanace he has so generously offered visiting ornithologists.

Manuel Alberto Plenge (b.1937) is a Peruvian ornithologist and conservationist who in his youth emigrated from Peru to the USA. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea for 17 months. He eventually returned to Peru and worked for a copper mining company (1962–2008), retiring as Director of Logistics. He is a member of many different ornithological and conservation organisations as well as author of scientific papers. He co-wrote An Annotated Checklist of Peruvian Birds (1982). He also prepared a List of the Birds of Peru (2002) and Bibliography of the Birds of Peru (2011) and uploaded both to the webpage of the 'Unión de Ornitólogos del Perú', updating them periodically.

The Key to Scientific Names
Manuel Alberto Plenge (b. 1937) Peruvian ornithologist (subsp. Asthenes fuliginosa, subsp. Uromyias agraphia).

Just small addition we find him also as Manuel Alberto Plenge Espinosa (if from his mother or from his wife is unknown to me).
