Astro adapter for TSN1-4? (1 Viewer)

Hi Yves,
since the inner diameter of the small body bayonet mount is less than 31.75mm, there is no way to adapt without either changing the bayonet mount or get rid of the 1.25" tube on the astro EPs. But this of course means that it really has to be an empty tube and not some barlow lens in there as is often the case with modern short focal length astro EPs in order to gain some eye relief.
And also the adaption is usually for one EP only or maybe one series...
Also even if there is nothing in the tube, one should be careful that the tube does not hold the innards of the EP together... some owners of older Televue EPs have had a nice puzzle of optical elements to put back together (or rather have a Televue technician do it) after removing the tube while pointing down...
PS: Baader Planetarium does offer an adapter to mount their Hyperion zoom Mk IV to the small body scopes - although I guess w/o any assurance that it'll actually come to focus or physically fit in all small body scopes...

I forgot If they have an inner thread as well, like the 820 series.. That would make easier to make and fit an adapter for a particular astro eyepiece.. The Baader adapter is of course to fit the tsn1 thread and convert to the hyperion collar, that might be 51 or 52 mm(forgot exact measurement)

Hi Yves,
a binoviewer is a no-go anyways due to lack of backfocus - you will certainly need a glass path corrector which also corrects the backfocus problem like this one.

With that adapted you also have sth to take the 1.25" tube of the binoviewer.
On the flip side, most of these increase the magnification a bit... so super wide true fields are not going to happen.
