Austin Texas owls in back yard (2 Viewers)

Well-known member
My apartment just replaced the large flood light on the side of the wall. It's in the back where all the trees are. Untill about 6 weeks ago, it was pretty black in the canopy.

I noticed that since the light went on at night the screech owls and great horned owls never call at night. It could be that they migrated north.

I'm thinking about putting an owl nest on my porch. But who knows what would come in.

I miss sitting on my porch late at night listening to the owls. One good thing - I can see moths late at night zigzag around.

Any experiences from fellow birders attracting night owls?
