Oh that's a shame. I enjoy his input.
He tweeted that the dates got changed meaning it clashed with a tour he was booked for and he didn't want to let people down. Looks like we're getting Megan as a stand-in. Meanwhile it looks like they've managed to get Michaela back into the country at long last. On the down side, only 4 episodes this year, it seems.

I don’t know if this is the proper Autumnwatch because on the website it’s called ‘Autumnwatch Spectacles’ and it’s on at 12pm and only lasts 10 mins BBC Two - Autumnwatch
And it only seems to be on the Red Button???
There's a 10-minute thing called Autumnwatch Spectacles on the red Button which seems to be being shown a lot of times. The main programme is 8pm Tuesday to Friday on BBC2, except in Wales on the Tuesday when it's on later. Episode 1 link for those in the UK: BBC Two - Autumnwatch, 2021, Episode 1

The live daily webcams are now only online via the BBC Springwatch website or on the BBC iPlayer. Not behind the red button for a few years now.
I think you'll be disappointed. I don't think it will be mentioned-we'll see?

It's not very common for the programme to talk about political issues is it? There was a mention of COP26, but they might be restricted in what they can talk about by the BBC's guidelines. He's obviously been vocal about issues in a personal capacity, but while he's on screen I don't think he can just bring these things up. I'd imagine they would talk about it if the news was that the birds WERE being introduced, but talking about something that was cancelled is more overtly political as it would be seen as the BBC disagreeing with a political decision.
They almost all winter in Ireland.
There's also a good number of Pale-bellied Brents that winter on Lindisfarne though these breed in Greenland & nearby islands.
