I missed the Spoonbills, but then I did have a big tea. Will have to visit iPlayer. I was surprised Simon was showing deer that weren't rutting, but maybe I missed that too. The slow motion stuff was excellent, looking forward to more.

Giggling at the thought of Ruth and Roy dozing off. Shows how captivating AW can be! 8-P

That slo mo camera is brilliant, isn't it?

I thought the slo mo of the squirrel leaping across the obstacle course was amazing. It showed how useful a big bushy tail can be. A shame poor Simon was drowned out by the aircraft. As Brian said, wildlife isn't necessarily confined to the coutryside and this illustrated that fact well.

I always look away or switch over when seal pups are shown to be in danger of being swept away or hurt, I can't bear to watch.

It was amazing to see, Bea. The slow motion footage will be an eye opener I reckon, a welcome addition to the programme. It was a pity with Simon's 'spot'! However there are much quieter and very interesting Wildlife 'spots' in Brum that they could have chosen. I agree that Inner cities and towns have a lot to offer regarding Wildlife.

The seal pups are delightful aren't they! Good to see how they monitor them too! Interesting stuff!:t:

During the Great Grey Shrike sequence was that not a ringtail species in the air or was I dreaming too?

You were dreaming, Brian!:-O At least I never spotted one, just the Shrike! I am sure Bill would have mentioned it on air if there had have been one!

I don't know, Autumnwatch seems to be having a sleepy effect on a few of our members!:-O

The Moths & Horses took up most of the prog, more like a full on coma I'd say! :'D:'D:'D

I've just started watching my recordings, and have seen the first two. The highlight for me was the beautiful cameo by Chris Packham; one of my favourite wildlfe presenters. Well filmed and narrated, with lovely content. Judging by the comments on the subsequent episodes, I look forward to them with interest.

Hope you saw the Snowy Owl on the Scillys Bill M!

I enjoyed tonights programme and I was pleased that someone at the beeb has read the thread and taken my advice on including more inner city stuff. Goodness me they even came to Newcastle. I suppose they didn't want me stealing their thunder!

I see the Northumbria Natural History Society have a trip to the Farnes on Saturday to see the Grey Seals, weather permitting. I wonder if they will be featured next week?

I found the piece about the otters in B'ham very interesting and like the antics of the red squirrels. Good to see the Little Egrets too.

A most enjoyable programme this evening! Heart warming to see the Seal mum fostering the pups, fingers crossed that it will be a happy outcome. The bats, piglets, Cattle & Little Egrets all good to see and hear about! I found the New forest feature particularly interesting regarding the acorns. I never knew they were a danger to horses when eaten in large quantities!:eek!:

Good news with our inner cities!:t: Do you reckon the powers that be read this thread then, Brian! Cor blimey, best watch we are saying about the rutting then!o:D

The Crane flies were fascinating...weren't they, Ruth? It's ok, you can come out from behind the settee now, they have gone!;):-O
