We're going to the Isle of Mull in May and would like to break the journey up by staying overnight near Oban, can anyone recomend a B&B within an hours drive of Oban where we can also get a few hours bird-watching in? I would be very grateful for any help. :flyaway:

Hi Johnny

I don't know anywhere near Oban, but a great way to go to Mull is via the Coran and Fishnish Ferries (much cheaper too!;) )

You pass by Strontian and James Wood (Gallus) has a B&B there - you can find him in 'Resources'.

Check out my thread

for what I saw and did in the area in May this year.

Thanks Delia, a very interesting and informative trip report, I've bookmarked it for future reference. We've already booked our week on Mull for the second week in May which is nearly the same time you were there. Once we're past Carlisle we intend to amble up taking the most scenic route we can stopping off at various places (yet to be decided).
Thanks again.
